FCW.com recently polled readers to see how they would complete this sentence: “You know you have been a fed too long when...”

To help sort through the 100-plus entries, we enlisted a former longtime fed who is well-known for his dry wit: Martin Wagner. Wagner, now a senior fellow at the IBM Center for the Business of Government and a columnist for Federal Computer Week, retired in early 2007 after more than 30 years at the General Services Administration. Thanks, Marty.

Congratulations to Jay Logan, who submitted the winning entry. And kudos to other contributors making the top 10: Jeffrey S. (Nos. 2 and 10), “Iggy” (No. 3), Greg Mundell (No. 4), Kenneth Dickinson (No. 8) and Peter LaMonica (No.

9). Meanwhile. some readers preferred to remain anonymous.
