May 7: Energy Secretary Spencer Abraham announced security plans that call for disk-free computer workstations.
May 20: Los Alamos administrators reported a missing disk.
July 9: Los Alamos administrators reported two missing disks.
July 17: Project on Government Oversight, a nonprofit watchdog group, reported that Los Alamos employees sent 17 e-mails containing classified information over an unsecured network during a period of several months.
July 23: Abraham called for a departmentwide halt to classified laboratory operations. Administrators placed 19 Los Alamos employees under investigation after two more removable disks containing classified data turned up missing.
