The General Services Administration is formulating a request for information for a commercial solution for electronic data records management for its SmartBuy Program.

According to a Feb. 26 Federal Business Opportunities notice, the management system must securely archive data and be flexible to store data in different types of storage devices. The system must produce queries and reports on the data, index content and archive records, while destroying the information when necessary, the notice states.

The system must be able to adjust to changing regulations, according to the notice. It also must work on a small scale for specific business areas with the potential to meet enterprisewide requirements for all business areas.

GSA released the RFI to develop a viable solicitation that will best convey the government’s requirements to industry, the notice states.
