Ciber aims to market its maritime security solution through a new alliance with Universal Guardian Holdings, a global risk mitigation company.

The integrator contributes to the partnership its Harbor Management and Security System, which provides maritime officials with Web-based access to vessel locations, schedules and data. Universal Guardian provides its security services and integrated global supply-chain visibility systems. Specifically, Universal Guardian offers Total Asset Guardian, a software product for radio frequency identification tagging and asset management. The companies will jointly promote their services and products.

Ciber’s Harbor Management and Security System provides what the company calls a unified common operations picture that can disseminate information among local, state, federal and commercial entities. The company’s customers include Port Freeport, Texas, which awarded Ciber’s Federal Solutions Division a $2.3 million port security contract last year.

A Ciber spokeswoman said the company’s global teaming agreement with Universal Guardian is entirely new, noting that the companies have not previously teamed on projects. Universal Guardian has business in the government market, listing the State and Defense departments among its customers.
