USAID, USPS sign AT&T deals

AT&T will upgrade and expand the U.S. Agency for International Development’s Web capabilities, and it will provide local voice and network services to 9,000 U.S. Postal Service locations under separate deals.
USAID issued a $13 million task order under a blanket purchase agreement it signed with AT&T earlier this year for the Principal Resource for Information Management enterprisewide program. AT&T will provide information technology services for the management of USAID's intranet, extranet and Internet sites.
“Like many federal agencies, USAID seeks to maximize the value of its internal and external Web sites through the use of advanced tracking metrics and performance monitoring,” said Don Herring, president of AT&T Government Solutions. AT&T can strengthen the security of USAID's sites and make the operation more cost-efficient, he said.
USPS renewed an existing contract for an additional year, for $12 million. Under the contract, AT&T will continue to provide voice and data connection services to USPS facilities in Arkansas, California, Connecticut, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Michigan, Missouri, Nevada, Ohio, Oklahoma, Texas and Wisconsin.
