John Sindelar, deputy associate administrator in the General Services Administration's Office of Governmentwide Policy, confirmed rumors that he plans to retire from government service -- but not right away.
Last week, GSA Administrator Lurita Doan named Kevin Messner acting associate administrator at the office, displacing Sindelar, who had held the position since December 2005. Sindelar returned to his earlier role as deputy associate administrator.
"I am planning to retire from government but have not set a date yet," Sindelar said through a spokeswoman. "Until that time, I intend to fully support the new acting associate administrator, Kevin Messner, from my position as the deputy associate administrator."
Messner has been chief of staff to two House members, Reps. Jim Kolbe and Rick Renzi, both Arizona Republicans.
