Bechtel National has joined the AT&T Government Solutions Networx team, bringing its engineering, construction and project management expertise to AT&T's bid for the next-generation telecommunications contract. According to AT&T, Bechtel's specialties are particularly applicable to disaster response, a critical requirement for Networx. “AT&T has a long-standing relationship with Bechtel, whose capabilities in infrastructure construction are a natural fit for the AT&T-led Networx team,” said Don Herring, president of AT&T Government Solutions, in a statement. "Bechtel is proud to join what we consider to be the winning team,” said James Payne, president of Bechtel Federal Telecoms. Networx is an important vehicle to allow the company entry into projects calling for complex infrastructure expansion worldwide, he said.
