Software provider Probaris Technologies announced that the Social Security Administration has extended its services contract for the implementation of Homeland Security Presidential Directive 12. SSA has licensed Probaris’ enterprise Web platform, Probaris SP, and its professional services team. The contract was awarded through Probaris’ General Services Administration Federal Supply Schedule 70 for HSPD-12 products and services. Terms of the extension were not released. According to a company announcement, Probaris will continue to assist SSA’s HSPD-12 compliance through the Probaris SP platform, which seamlessly integrates with third-party components and fully supports Federal Information Processing Standard 201, including the automatic generation of unique numbers for Personal Identification Verification (PIV) credentials. Probaris’ SP/PIV is commercial software that includes a central data repository and a Web services infrastructure, the company said. The architecture enables the software platform to serve as the integration hub for all the technology components needed to produce a PIV-compliant identity credential. Probaris is also assisting SSA with a comprehensive training program for HSPD-12 users and agency development and maintenance teams. The directive, mandated in August 2004, requires a single, interoperable identity credential for all government employees and contractors to access systems and facilities. Federal agencies have until Oct. 27 to begin to comply with the requirements. Compliance must be completed by Oct. 27, 2007.
