CompuDyne’s public safety unit will provide a computer-aided dispatch system to Brevard County, Fla., under a contract announced today. CompuDyne-Public Safety and Justice holds the contract, the value of which was not disclosed. CompuDyne’s computer-aided dispatch system will support the Brevard County Fire Rescue, the city of Rockledge Fire Department, the city of Cape Canaveral Fire Department, the town of Malabar Fire Department, the city of Melbourne Beach Fire Department and the Brevard County Administrative Offices. The county, which is 35 miles east of Orlando, Fla., is the home of the Kennedy Space Center. The Microsoft Windows-based system will let county dispatchers respond to and manage 911 calls more efficiently, according to the company. In addition, the system transmits fire incident information to a printer in each of the county’s 35 fire stations. CompuDyne’s dispatch system customers in Florida include Volusia and Orange counties and the city of Melbourne. Earlier this month, the company won a contract to provide a $900,000 public safety system for Chesapeake, Va. That system includes computer-aided dispatch, records management and a field reporting system. CompuDyne provides products and services to four segments of the security industry: public safety and justice, integrated electronics, attack protection, and institutional security systems.
