Washington state’s Department of Licensing has awarded Digimarc a $10 million contract extension, through which the company will provide recently available secure identification products. Under the three-year contract extension, the Beaverton, Ore., company will provide its Digimarc Camera Tower, which debuted last month. The company will deploy the camera product in all 65 of the department’s driver’s licensing offices. The state is Digimarc’s third customer for the camera system. Oregon and the West African nation of Ghana also have contracts with the company that include the camera tower, a Digimarc spokesman said. The Washington contract also calls for the use of Digimarc’s IDMarc digital watermark security feature for drivers’ licenses. In addition, it calls for software upgrades throughout the state’s driver’s license enrollment and issuance system.
