Army awards $20B ITES-2S to 11 vendors

The Army awarded 11 contracts today for its Information Technology Enterprise Solutions 2 Services (ITES-2S) contract, which has a maximum value of $20 billion.
Large businesses that won three-year indefinite-delivery, indefinite-quantity contracts with two-year options are: Booz Allen Hamilton , CACI-ISS, Computer Sciences Corp., EDS, General Dynamics, IBM, Lockheed Martin Integrated Systems and Science Applications International Corp. Apptis, STG and QSS won ITES-2sS small-business contracts.
Kevin Carroll, Army program executive officer for Enterprise Information Systems (PEO-EIS), said ITES-2S will form the procurement cornerstone for Army IT systems in the next decade. All the military services, Defense Department agencies and other federal agencies will be able to order off the ITES-2S contract.
ITES-2S has a broad scope and the Army wants the winning vendors to provide a full range of services and solutions that support Army enterprise IT systems worldwide. This includes support of Army combat systems, including command, control, communications and computers, and business systems.
Task areas under the ITES-2 contract include IT services, program and project management, systems operation and maintenance, and network support. Other task areas include information systems security, information assurance business process re-engineering, education and training.
Although ITES-2S is primarily a services-based contract, the scope also envisions situations in which the contractors will provide a full rage of IT equipment to satisfy the Army’s requirements. PEO-EIS issued a draft statement of work for its $10 billion ITES-2S hardware contract last week and expects to release a request for proposals by mid-May.
