Cornet Technology Communications has received a $1.5 million-plus order to install a network switching system at the Army’s Fort Belvoir, Va.
CTC will install its MTX-256 Tech Control Switching System and SONUX-300 Cross Connect Multiplexer. The switching system provides automated network infrastructure management. The multiplexer lets customers consolidate multiple T1, DS1 and DS3 lines into a single high-speed link, such as OC-3.
The equipment order comes through CTC’s indefinite-delivery, indefinite-quantity contract with the Army Project Manager Defense Communications and Army Transmission Systems organization. The Fort Belvoir project is the fourth in a series of projects CTC has done for that organization in support of the World Wide Technical Control Improvement Program.
The project aims to modernize Fort Belvoir’s technology control center. The center is responsible for communications from the main wide-area network transport to local subscribers, according to a CTC spokeswoman. The center oversees communications security, circuits provisioning and maintenance of service to subscribers, she said.
CTC is the network communications solutions division of Cornet Technology, a manufacturing and professional services company based in Springfield, Va. CTC manufactures data, voice and video network switching products, and provides integration services.
