The Defense Information Systems Agency is seeking information on the latest software available for assessing the security of Defense Department networks and is asking for input on the best procurement strategy.
The Assured Compliance Assessment Solution, which will be added to existing monitoring efforts, should cover three main functions, according to the request for information. First, the software should ensure that defense networks comply with various DOD standards and best practices.
It should also scan for vulnerabilities in software, hardware and system configurations, using the Open Vulnerability and Assessment Language where possible and provide reports in standard formats.
DISA also is looking for software that provides network "situational awareness," collecting IP and Media Access Control addresses for attached devices, performing an inventory of installed software and reporting unauthorized network services.
According to the RFI, DISA is open to buying ACAS through a managed service or a software-as-a-service approach, or through a traditional software or software/hardware procurement.
