Last September, General Services Administration Administrator Lurita Doan promised to put her agency on the cutting edge of federal telework by having 50 percent of eligible GSA employees teleworking by 2010.

Doan said today GSA is "absolutely going to make [that goal] and we're going to make it in spades."

In a speech at the Spring 2008 Telework Exchange Town Meeting in Washington, Doan said that 18 percent of eligible GSA workers are now teleworking at least part-time and she expects to meet the next goal -- 20 percent by the end of this calendar year -- by the end of May, eight months ahead of schedule, she said.

"We're well on our way to hitting our goal of 40 percent by the end of calendar year 2009," Doan said.

GSA's eventual goal of 50 percent by 2010 is going to be "an absolute cakewalk," Doan said.
