For help with evaluating training courses and creating Web-based training development processes and other tasks, the Army Defense Ammunition Center (DAC) has awarded SI International $8 million contract.
The Reston, Va., company will support DAC, located at McAlester, Okla., with knowledge management and electronic performance system integration.
Knowledge management comprises a number of practices that organizations use to identify, create and distribute knowledge for reuse by others or to educate their staffs. Such programs are tied to organizational objectives and target specific results, such as shared intelligence and better performance.
The contract, which was awarded under the Millennia Lite Functional Area 2 General Services Administration contract vehicle, has a base of one year with four one-year options.
DAC provides ammunition training, explosives safety instruction and logistics support to military and civilian Defense Department organizations and personnel.
SI International’s team will establish the Professional Development Institutes for DAC instructors, create a DAC Community of Excellence, develop a long-term training plan, implement a Learning Management System/Learning Content Management System and deliver help-desk support.
SI International has been providing knowledge management and electronic performance support services to DAC since 2004. The company ranks No. 42 on Washington Technology’s 2007 Top 100 list of the largest federal government prime contractors.
