The Environmental Protection Agency will keep a handful of its IT services in-house after analyzing whether it would be cheaper to outsource those functions to the private sector.

In separate notices, EPA said it will retain its help desk and computer hardware support in its Boston office and its Lotus Notes administration and desktop support in Philadelphia.

The agency first initiated the public-private competitions earlier this year under the streamlined competition rules established within Office of Management and Budget Circular A-76.

Circular A-76 lets agencies compete 65 or fewer employee positions for inherently commercial jobs by either soliciting proposals from contractors or conducting market research from multiple-award schedule contracts.
