The city of Waterbury, Conn., has awarded a contract to Lawson Software Inc. to provide human resources software, the company announced this month. The contract is worth more than $1 million, according to the company.

Under the contract, Lawson of St. Paul, Minn., will provide a centralized software application to help the city manage human resources information, such as time accumulation and compensation, and to process payroll.

The software solution will enable the city to access critical data across its human resources and payroll departments, thus ensuring uniform administration of pay, benefits and employee leave in accordance with personnel rules and collective bargaining agreements.

Velocity Technology Solutions LLC of New York will implement the software, Lawson said. The city expects to have the project completed by July 1, 2006.
