Glenn Schlarman, who has been in government for 34 years, has announced he is retiring Dec. 1.
Schlarman, the Office of Management and Budget’s chief of the Information Policy Branch in the Office of Regulatory Affairs, had been planning his retirement most of the year and settled on leaving after the fiscal 2008 budget season was mostly complete.
He came to OMB from the Energy Department in February 2004, replacing Dan Chenok, who moved to the private sector.
At OMB, Schlarman was OMB administrator for e-government and IT Karen Evans’ career deputy. He was responsible for a host of security and privacy policy activities including the IT security Line of Business initiative; information access and dissemination policies including how to move beyond the Government Information Locator Service; and continuity of operations issues.
Before coming to OMB, Schlarman spent time with Energy working for Evans on IT security and was an FBI analyst.
OMB posted Schlarman’s job on USAjobs.gov with a closing date of Oct. 19.
