The Treasury Department seeks comments from federal and commercial data center providers about the availability and cost savings of alternative hosting and infrastructure support services options for HR Connect, Treasury’s human resources system.

HR Connect provides a range of applications, services and information to human resource offices, managers and employees, such as viewing employment information and managing leave. Supervisors can use organizational data for decision-making, initiate paperless personnel actions and route them electronically for approval.

Treasury posted the request for information yesterday at the IRS Procurement Office Web site.

Treasury’s HR Connect Program Office manages the development, deployment, maintenance and marketing of the Oracle/PeopleSoft application, which provides payroll support services for the department’s 12 bureaus and three outside agencies, including the Housing and Urban Development Department. Production currently resides at the IRS Detroit Computing Center. HR Connect also feeds HR data to the Agriculture Department’s National Finance Center payroll system for Treasury’s payrolls.

If Treasury decides to proceed with an acquisition, it plans to award a contract by the end of this calendar year and a cutover to a new center before September 2007.

Comments are due Jan. 24.
