The National Archives and Records Administration has promoted Reynolds Cahoon, the agency’s CIO for the past 10 years, to take a new position promoting and educating other agencies about using electronic records.
Cahoon will be NARA’s first senior adviser of electronic records, in which he will educate other agencies, the CIO Council and the Office of Management and Budget about the “importance of building records management functions into the design of agency business systems,” said Allen Weinstein, NARA archivist.
He also will counsel agencies on how to build records management functions into their enterprise architecture and information systems.
As CIO, Cahoon played a key role in NARA’s Electronic Records Archive, a project that will maintain, store, collect and make available electronically all records from government agencies.
Weinstein also appointed Martha Morphy, director for information resources policy and projects, as acting CIO.
