The federal goverment spends a good deal of money on requitment and training. They now need to figure a way to keep these employees and a yearly raise is always a good thing and fair if it is across the board.

Federal employees now make an average of 23 percent less in salaries than their counterparts in the private sector, according to the Federal Salary Council (FSC), yet this is nothing new. Fed Gov fails to at least match COLA with statistics provided by reliable and official sources. COLA alone cannot be evaluated as "incentive pay" when it is definitely insufficient compared to civilian counterparts. Would love to see a retroactive requirement to meet those counterpart pay levels, for all DoN/DoD personnel for the past 20 years, or since original date of service.

Just wait until NSPS kicks in! What do you think are the chances that you will even get your COLA due you? Be aware that many DODers are falling under the new NSPS system shortly, if not already. Short team gains will most likely be okay... but as soon as NSPS is fully established we will see a nightmare of a system full of inequalities similar to those 'good old days' of management discretion! Why has DHS all but abandoned NSPS? Why isn't DOD listening? If this affects you, I urge everyone to write their congress-person and urge their vote AGAINST NSPS!
