Agencies have less than six months to implement IP Version 6 on their network backbones. As this deadline quickly approaches, agencies received a final draft profile from the National Institute of Standards and Technology only recently. While NIST says the profile is intended for post-June IPv6 implementation, it is one of several guidances or standards that have been in the works for a long time.
