So after pulling together the list of movies, we've got the pairings for the March Government Movie Madness. (I mentioned earlier that we're using the brilliant "bracket" method combined with your votes to determine the best movies. A special hat tip to the book The Enlightened Bracketologist: The final four of everything. We are borrowing their idea.)

FCW's crack art team is working on putting a page that does them as brackets, but...here is the list of pairings for now.

Here is how this is going to work. Starting Tuesday, March 18, we will have a competition between movies. We will have two competitions -- four movies -- running at once on FCW.com's poll. We'll leave it up there until about 4p.m. the following day, at which time, we'll post the next one. We'll leave that up there for about two days...and so on...Eventually we'll get down to the final 16...then the final eight...then the final four...and finally, the final two. (We'll leave the voting up longer as we get later in the competition. The final four and beyond, we'll leave up for a few days.)

And I can hear you asking already -- what's the criteria? First off, this isn't really THAT serious, so... whatever you want it to be. But, we're looking for the best government-themed movie. So...take that as the criteria.

To vote, go to fcw.com/polls. And we'll keep it all updated here.

So the pairings for the first round:

Dave (1992)
The American President (1995)

Air Force One (1997)
Murder at 1600 (1997)

Mr. Smith Goes to Washington (1940)
Charlie Wilson's War (2007)

No Way Out (1987)
Enemy of the State (1998)

War Games (1983)
Mars Attacks (1996)

Breach (2007)
The Good Shepherd (2006)

JFK (1992)
Nixon (1995)

Absolute Power (1996)
In the Line of Fire (1993)

The Bourne movies
The Jack Ryan movies

Hunt for Red October (1990)
Crimson Tide (1995)

The Silence of the Lambs (1991)
X-Files: Fight The Future (1998)

Primary Colors (1998)
Wag the Dog (1997)

Manchurian Candidate (1962) (Yes, there is a 2004 version, but...we'll go with the original)
Citizen Kane (1941)

All the President's Men (1975)
Dick (1999)

Apocalypse Now (1979)
Black Hawk Down (2001)

U.S. Marshalls (1998)
The Fugitive (1993)

So...let the voting begin.
