I recently deleted all my cookies. Then I spent a frustrating few days trying to remember the logins to all the sites (like New York Times, Washington Post, etc.) that had passed me cookies, those wonderful little bits of data that had been making my browsing experience easy and rewarding. Grousing about losing my cookies got me no sympathy from my more tech-savvy colleague. She told me that some companies require employees to dump them every night.
Earlier this year, market research companies found that between 38 and 44 percent of people say they regularly (meaning monthly) delete their cookies. Another study cited a number as high as 56 percent of people who said they deleted their cookies monthly, but only a third of that group knew how to do it.
Whatâs the policy in your office? And are you as vigilant with your home computers as you are with those in the office?
