Through all the Katrina reading Iâve been doing, I havenât seen many press releases from IT vendors explaining how their products could have prevented or could help repair IT damage. Nevertheless, there are some technologies and applications that will surely get a boost. Hereâs my list.
Risk management/continuity of operations
Off-site data back up
Data recovery
ASPs
Electronic health records
Satellite phones
Self-healing networks
Compliance software
Modeling and simulation software
Sensors
What other technologies do you think will get a bounce from Katrina?
On the fringe we'll see more people willing to get a chip implant that carries not just health records, but other vital (e.g. financial) info.
I think we'll also see lots of discussion about the personal data the government has collected on Katrina evacuees.
