New Defense blogs

Fans of Defense Tech will be happy to see that Noah Shachtman now has a blog on Wired. Called the Danger Room, itâs got all the planes, bombs and electronic gadgets you could ever want, plus some great interviews. The inaugural Q&A, which is delightfully lengthy, is with Tony Tether, head of DARPA. And while the interview features plenty of far-out tech, itâs all grounded in IT. Spend the time to read it.
If youâre a military gadgeteer, check out Kit Up. This site showcases any kind of device, software or resource that makes deployment more bearable. Features plenty of low-tech tools with high-impact missions.
Another new (to me, anyway) blog is The D-Ring: Where the military and new media collide. It is written by Steve Field, a former Army civilian and spokesman at the Pentagon, who now works at Edelman, the public relations giant. According to the blog, The D-Ring monitors "the military community â Army, Air Force, Marines, Navy and Coast Guard â as well as defense contractors, military bloggers and those on the 'outside' to see how they are navigating (or mis-navigating) through the new media environment." He discusses video, wireless phones, milblogs, and online engagement. Iâll be reading this one too.
What have I missed? Send your best DOD reads along.
