This week’s Fortune has a feature article on the health IT applications that have made the Veterans Health Administration the envy of the wired healthcare world. Technology has transformed the VA is one of many stories praising the VA for its use of IT to improve the lives of veterans and to manage an enormous enterprise.
Good, but not lucky. News of the theft of a VA employee’s laptop containing the Social Security numbers of up to 26.5 million veterans pretty much instantaneously wiped out all that political/innovative capital in one fell swoop.
