Watch any of the Olympics yet? If youâre feeling like showing off your own feats of skill, take a look at "The Intel® IT Manager Game" where you win by efficiently managing an IT department â the people, the technology, the politics and the budget.
The Intel® IT Manager Game tests your entire skill set - people management, resource allocation, strategic analysis and planning. It also tests your courage under fire - can you stand up to the scrutiny of top management along with that of your peers in the industry? Will the decisions you make result in breathtaking profits or devastating losses? Will you enjoy the sweet taste of victory or the bitter agony of defeat? Are you destined for management glory or will you be the kid sitting on the sidelines, waiting for the bell to ring?
Itâs obviously not as exciting as this promo would like you to believe. But it does make the job sound rather Olympian, donât you think? And if there were a federal IT management Olympics, what would the events be? Here are a few to get you thinking. Post your suggestions.
The telecom combined event where federal IT Olympians (FITOs) demonstrate their ability to keep their agency communicating during Category 5 hurricanes and Blackberry black outs.
The half-stovepipe event, where FITOs are scored on both the height they soar beyond their own stovepipe while maintaining speed and balance when operating within their stovepipe.
The speed skating event where FITOs called to the Hill are awarded points based on the brevity of their testimony and their ability to circle issues.
