C|Net is reporting that former Massachusetts CIO Peter Quinn said that one reason for the slow adoption of open source in the commercial environment is the lax dress code of the open-source community. Heâs even quoted as calling them the âsandal and ponytail set.â
Yikes. This guy certainly doesnât shrink from controversy. But he's probably making a valid point. People who want their bosses to support open source over Microsoft had better pull out all the stops.
Further down in the article it says, âQuinn said political considerations in the United States had prevented many technology workers from going public about their support for open-source software solutions and projects being undertaken across government entities.â
What do you think? Are people afraid to voice their support of open source?
