From Yahoo News comes word of a new LexisNexis feature that’s called Negative News. According to the release, “Negative News looks for the name of a person or business in close proximity to mentions of criminal acts, bankruptcies or illicit behavior. Examples of terms it seeks include bribe, drug, felony, misconduct, negligence, and theft.

It is being marketed as an add-on to the LexisNexis Anti-Money Laundering, Risk Management and RiskWise applications.

From the release:
"It is sometimes difficult to truly know your business partners, vendors and customers, especially when there is limited public information available on a particular person or company," said Thomas C. Brown, vice president, market planning - financial services at LexisNexis. "LexisNexis has worked with its customers to identify possible behavior that might suggest an individual warrants additional consideration and investigation."

Hmmm.
