Iâm still puzzling about that CNN/Money survey of the best places to live. Because itâs from CNN/Money, the whole thing was about affluence, which cuts both ways. Itâs great if you can afford it (lots of shopping and variety in restaurants), but if youâre just starting out, chances are youâll be living in a townhouse 20 miles (and 70 frustrating minutes) from your office. I wonder if the best places to live (which have easy access to the best job markets) are going to be too expensive for the best new employees. Vienna, Va., which came in fourth, has a median home price of $511,000. Hereâs the list for Virginia. Out of 40 cities, only a handful (okay, seven) are outside northern Virginia. What does that tell you?
