Computer Sciences Corp. announced April 19 that it has named Austin Yerks president of the newly formed Defense Division. It also named David Browder vice president of business development for the division.

As president, Yerks will lead the company's Defense Department business. The division, which comprises more than 8,000 employees, supports all of CSC's DOD clients, including the Army, Navy, Marine Corps, Air Force and Defense agencies.

Yerks joined CSC in 1996. Previously he was president of the company's Defense Integrated Solutions and Services division and president of Business Development for Federal Sector. In that capacity, he oversaw all business development and strategic marketing activities for seven operating divisions.

Before joining CSC, Yerks held senior management and marketing positions at other defense companies.

Yerks is a member of the board of directors for AFCEA, the National Defense Industrial Association, and the Government Electronics and Information Technology Association.

As vice president of business development, Browder will be responsible for managing account teams as they identify, evaluate, qualify and pursue new opportunities for the company's divisions that support DOD.

He joined CSC in 2003 as a capture executive at the Federal Sector level. Most recently, he was acting vice president for the Federal Sector's Strategic Business Management organization, responsible for managing new business opportunities and proposal development operations. In addition, he led CSC's successful pursuit of the Product Lifecycle Management Plus and Expeditionary Combat Support System programs.

Prior to joining CSC, Browder held positions at a variety of firms, including Northrop Grumman and GRC International, which is now AT&T. Previously, he spent eight years on active duty with the U.S. Air Force as an instructor pilot and acquisition management officer.
