Lockheed Martin has named Margaret Collins (Peggy) Burns as vice president of information and knowledge solutions for Lockheed Martin Enterprise Solutions and Services (ES&S).

Burns, a Lockheed Martin executive with 25 years of program, systems engineering and management experience, will provide executive leadership to the Information and Knowledge Solutions line of business. She will manage numerous application development and maintenance programs supporting the Defense Department, FBI, Environmental Protection Agency, Social Security Administration, and other government agencies. The ES&S unit is part of the company’s Information Systems and Global Services business area.

Burns was previously vice president of engineering for Integrated Systems and Solutions in Gaithersburg, Md., where she managed more than 8,000 people.

She came to Lockheed Martin as a systems engineering manager in 1996, when the corporation acquired Loral Federal Systems, where she had been employed. Burns then went on to work in several other areas in the corporation including Lockheed Martin Mission Systems, where she supported the Global Positioning System operational control segment contract, and Management and Data Systems, where she worked for eight years as the system’s program director. In 2004, she earned the Lockheed Martin’s highest award, NOVA.
