Mercury Computer Systems named Terry Ryan senior vice president and general manager of the company's Federal Government Businesses.

Ryan has more than 20 years' experience in the national security community. Most recently, he was senior vice president of strategic development at Science Applications International Corp., where he focused on various areas including national and homeland security. He was responsible for overseeing strategy development and mergers and acquisitions for the Intelligence, Security and Technology Group.

Before SAIC, Ryan was vice president and director of SRA International's Command, Control, Communications, Computers, Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance Center, where he directed intelligence community-related programs and contracts. During his tenure, he was appointed to the President's Foreign Intelligence Advisory Board's Transformation Advisory Group and to the CIA director's Constellation Architecture Panel.

Before that, Ryan was president, chief executive officer and director of Adroit Systems. In 2001, he was recognized as one of the top four entrepreneurs in the Greater Washington-Baltimore area as an Ernst and Young Entrepreneur Finalist.

Ryan also was a senior member of the Office of the Secretary of Defense, responsible for overseeing the acquisition and requirements for the Defense Department's intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance systems, and he was the deputy director of the Defense Airborne Reconnaissance Office. Ryan also was a professional staff member on the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence and House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence.

Ryan’s 10-year military term included a position as senior intelligence analyst for the Office of Naval Intelligence, and infantry commander and intelligence officer for the Marine Corps.
