The National Academy of Public Administration's Board of Directors announced today the appointment of Jennifer Dorn as the academyâs president and chief executive officer, effective March 1.
She currently is the U.S. representative on the Board of the World Bank.
The academy is an independent, nonprofit organization chartered by Congress to improve government effectiveness. Its research program includes studies on the FBIâs reorganization after the 2001 terrorost attacks and the effect of off-shoring activity on the U.S. economy and workforce.
Dorn has more than 30 years of public service leadership. She has served in four Senate-confirmed positions under three presidents. She spent four years as administrator of the Federal Transit Administration, managing the federal governmentâs $7.2 billion annual program to improve and support public transportation nationwide. She previously was assistant secretary of the Labor Department and associate deputy secretary of the Transportation Department.
