Cisco Systems’ federal team has formed a new Advisory Fellows program consisting of former senior feds. Fellows’ job is to help the company do better government business and to focus on workforce and citizen service challenges facing federal agencies. Fellows also act as consultants to the Cisco core team.

The first new members of this fellowship are:

  • Richard Burk, former chief architect and manager of the federal enterprise architecture Program at the Office of Management and Budget. He will play a lead role in helping define the new government enterprise driven by service-enabled architectures.
  • Ira Hobbs, former deputy assistant secretary and chief information officer at the Treasury Department. Hobbs will help Cisco’s citizen service/experience model in Government 2.0.
  • Fred Thompson, who has led Council for Excellence in Government programs to improve government management and leadership, been e-government practice director at Unisys Federal, and held federal leadership posts at Treasury, the Internal Revenue Service and the Office of Personnel Management. Thompson will help Cisco’s push to define the 21st-century workforce and workspace.
