President Bush has nominated Paul Schneider as deputy secretary at the Homeland Security Department.
Schneider was most recently acting deputy secretary and previously was undersecretary for management.
He started in government work more than 40 years ago at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard as a project engineer. Schneider has also been deputy director of Navsea’s Auxiliary Systems Sub-Group, principal deputy assistant secretary of the Navy for research, and senior acquisition executive of the National Security Agency. Prior to joining the department, Schneider was a defense and aerospace consultant.
