"Former Office of Personnel Management employees plead guilty to stealing" raised concerns, experiences and suggestions for future audits of the agency:

1. Is there any mechanism to check if OPM is actually enforcing laws to assess if capable persons are being dubiously sidelined from employment opportunities because, similar to earmarked funds, there are "already spoken for" positions? 2. What are inspectors general doing about serious complaints? 3. Is the Government Accountability Office or Congress auditing them? 4. Despite several contractors managing the Web sites, the users’ experience in online and printed mail requirements is not uniform and differs among agencies. I wonder if the process would not be fairer if OPM were abandoned and agencies could directly hire whoever they thought suitable, avoiding this big overhead of OPM.
