An article published in the May 19, 2008, edition of FCW "Should NARA be the e-archiving cop?" stated that "NARA's inspector general and other officials blasted the agency during a hearing...."  I believe that the writer's use of the verb blasted is inconsistent with both the intent and content of my testimony and fails to align with the strategic mission of the National Archives and Records Administration (NARA) Office of Inspector General.

Our primary goal is to support the talented and dedicated employees of the agency to help them best meet the needs of our many stakeholders. There is no intent to "blast" any persons or entities within NARA and review of my oral and written testimony will substantiate that to the reader.

Rather, we seek to facilitate the effective and efficient use of NARA's resources to best serve the American public. Likewise, we seek to define challenges the agency faces to those who possess the means to effect positive and constructive change.
