Regarding “DHS procurement shortages hinder performance contracts”: Yes, we are undermanned and underpaid by the [Defense Department]. Our workloads are high plus Air Force-wide, we are being regionalized and will have to move or quit if not willing to move. I love my job and AF ensures we have proper training to avoid protests, but we must deal with contracts, finance, contract administration, site visits, cost analysis, de-obligations, wide-area workflow issues, etc., [that make] us a jack of all trades but yet promotions are hard to come by.

Agreed!! Why anyone in their right mind would want to keep a Contracting Officer's warrant is beyond me. I've been one for 15 years and have never seen things as bad as they are now. Don't believe anything will get any better until something real important and/or expensive fails.
