I completely agree with this writer. The business and data object that drives the enterprise in this case is the acquisition, as in the "task," "project" or "program." The financials are attributes (values in fields) of that business (data) object. Even industry has a long way to go in understanding this basic concept. The tendency now is to build apps from the organizational perspective _e.g., Finance) and move outward, rather than look at the basic enterprise (cross-organizational) processes and data. We still live in a world where people call themselves CIOs who in fact are NEVER concerned with the INFORMATION of their business at all. They plan networks, hardware and software and in fact there is no CIO at all. This effort has to start with the processes and data of the enterprise or it will go in circles.
