Regarding "Feds need to tap aging boomer workforce": Mr. Burns is on the mark with his comments. However, it seems too late to address the problem of "boomer brain drain" in a manner that will both get federal agencies through the current crisis -- and yes, it is upon us now -- while simultaneously developing workforce development and management policies that avoid such crises in the future.
Enticing boomers to stay on will not guarantee that those best qualified [will] do so. It will do nothing for the morale of mid-career federal workers expecting career advancement and nothing to reverse the the federal services' dismal record in recruiting, developing and retaining young talent.
