Regarding “Law requires agencies to ask contractors about health benefits”: This is just another law to waste both government resources as well as contractors’. Employees almost always have the option to choose to take the health benefits, and companies should have the options on what benefits to offer, especially the small ones that often cannot afford many of the benefits. So why does the government have to waste its time as well as the contractors’ to check this out?

I agree with anonymous. Too many Congressman and their silly, 20-something lawyer staffers have the notion that more and more government is a good thing. They are precisely wrong. The philosophy behind this is that employees are completely vulnerable to big bad corporations (and small bad ones too, presumably). The truth is skilled employees really do pick employers. They also select their own healthcare, and pay for it too. Stop trying to protect us from ourselves. We are not perpetual infants. (Most of us, anyway)
