Regarding “OPM suspends telework for some of its workers,” what wasn't mentioned is that this new system is not ready to go live in February 2008; that when it does go live, it will only process about 10 percent of our current retirement case load; that OPM has changed its mind about training 228 employees on the new system in December to training only 25 to 50 employees -- whenever the Retirement System Modernization is ready. There hasn't been a problem with personally identifiable information being lost in the past. This blanket suspension of telework is unfair and unnecessary. This $290 million RSM system is not working. It's not ready for employees to be trained on and so we all sit in here every day waiting for RSM to come. Why not wait to pull us off telework once the system is ready for training and delivery?

Retirement Systems Modernization (RSM) has been flailing around, accomplishing nothing but enriching contractors, for years and years, going back to the late 90s. Before RSM it was FAPS - FERS Automated Processing System. Again, millions and millions, until it was shut down with no results. OPM simply does not know what they are doing! Makes me ashamed to be a government employee.

The suspension of teleworkers of various employees at OPM is a political forest. The RSM project will never see the true light and is a waste of government money. There is a massive lost of morale, work production, and a major disruption of working lives of the teleworkers in CRIS who have worked extremely hard for the last 7 years with no PII (Personal Identifiable Information)problem or any lost of personal data relating to the processing of retirement cases. There are extremely dark days at OPM regarding employee relations and telework. Its the law and OPM have taking away our right to want to work hard and see this program work for federal workers in their quest to go Green. How Sad, and what a waste. Thank you.
