The Office of Personnel Management has started an effort to improve training and support for workforce programs for federal employees and agencies through its Training and Management Assistance (TMA) program.
Using an array of commercial training and human resources management firms, the program will enable TMA to help agencies meet increasing demand for customized training and other human resources requirements, OPM said.
“It’s having a pipeline of vendors who are known quantities and have a proven track record of providing the types of training services that are in need,” OPM spokesman Michael Orenstein said.
OPM officials say the initiative will provide for:
More efficient implementation of customized training programs.
Increased support from OPM’s Training Program Management Office, including course delivery, Web hosting and production of instructional materials.
Acquisition of new licenses or software to develop customized training and workforce programs.
More support in areas such as program analysis, stakeholder coordination, program status reporting, capital asset planning and management presentations.
OPM Director Linda Springer said the program will ensure that agencies have enhanced access to training programs, helping them maintain a motivated, successful workforce.
